Watch this video to see how the quietest car from Volvo sounds: 25 speakers all around like a mini theater
Volvo has partnered with Bowers & Wilkins to develop a premium audio system specifically for the EX90 – its electric flagship SUV that was announced recently and will officially go on sale in the first half of 2024.
According to the Swedish brand, their goal is to provide an authentic, high-quality audio experience in “the quietest place in Volvo history”. To do this, 25 speakers are scattered throughout the cabin with the placement of each speaker carefully selected to create the most realistic 3D experience. The dashboard, doors, ceiling, rear wheel frame or front seat headrests all have their own speaker systems.
The sound on the Volvo EX90 can be heard from anywhere thanks to the 25 speakers scattered around the user
The top speaker integrates naturally and seamlessly into the surrounding space via the backlit wood panels below or polished stainless steel speaker grille.
A proprietary technology called True Sound by Bowers & Wilkins is used to simulate the experience in a professional studio, in addition, users can customize the sound experience to simulate other spaces such as stages, individual concert halls or miniatures.
The best 3D sound system in the Volvo EX90
As already mentioned, the sound system in the Volvo EX90’s cabin supports 3D sound thanks to Dolby Atmos technology, which further enhances the realism of the user experience.
The most unfortunate thing for customers who are still waiting for the Volvo EX90 is that the car will only be assembled early next year in Thanh Do, China and Charleston, South Carolina, USA to complete the software. A specific price list for the large electric SUV hasn’t been announced yet, but Volvo says that the standard version “from $80,000” (equivalent to around VND 1.8 billion) is very well equipped.
