The Ministry of Information and Communications issues a handbook to prevent fake news and false news in cyberspace

The introduction event “Handbook to prevent fake news and false news in cyberspace” was organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications on the afternoon of December 27 in Hanoi. This program is part of the project “Development of Vietnam’s press in the period of 2020 – 2024”.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said that the management point of view has been emphasized many times by the Minister of Information and Communications, that is, if you want to be managed, you must be able to see it. Being visible means having tools to measure, scanning with technology, and being visible is giving the community a set of tools, so that everyone can see it and work together to deal with it.

The Deputy Minister also said that the task of developing a Handbook on prevention of fake news and false news online is part of a group of solutions for state management of the Ministry of Information and Communications on this issue.

According to the Deputy Minister, the Handbook is a very important tool, because it gives the community and Internet users, when participating in the digital space every day, a tool to jointly recognize and behave appropriately. and join hands to eliminate fake news and false news in cyberspace.

“Participating in the digital space, it is important to equip users with tools to improve resistance, recognize fake news so as not to share and distribute it. The handbook also helps to identify, in spreading fake news, what is intentional behavior, organized with malicious intent, to profit from it.”the Deputy Minister shared.

About the Handbook, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Department of Radio, Television and Information Technology) Le Quang Tu Do said that the goal of the Ministry of Information and Communications when developing this publication is to raise awareness of the responsibility on the Internet. cyberspace for Internet users in Vietnam.

The handbook also provides the most basic information and skills so that agencies, organizations and individuals participating in cyberspace have the general knowledge necessary to recognize, respond and effectively deal with cyber threats. The situation of fake news and false news tends to increase in the current cyberspace.

The manual is developed based on the provisions of the law, the Code of Conduct on social networks of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the information processing processes of the Vietnam Fake News Processing Center (VAFC); also based on real problems that users often encounter when interacting on the network environment and refer to research documents, practical experiences of some countries and community principles of cross-border platforms. big world.

In terms of presentation format, the Handbook meets the requirements of high applicability and easy access to users. As for the content, the Handbook is presented in 2 parts, in which the first part summarizes briefly, easy to understand, easy to use, are basic skills for users to recognize, respond and handle. effective when encountering a fake news, false news.
