Among them, 22 points of domestic demand, 8 points of demand in other countries are the main export markets for Bac Giang lychees. Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat was present at Bac Giang Bridge.
Discussing at the bridge point, delegates focused on issues such as: Creating favorable conditions for lychee cleaning; placing lychees for consumption on e-commerce sites; cloth consumption in large supermarkets and domestic wholesale markets.
E-commerce is becoming popular in many countries, including Vietnam. This method became even more convenient and profitable when the Covid-19 outbreak spread on a global scale.
The fact that Bac Giang has been actively implementing new technology-based business methods in lychee consumption is the right, creative and effective direction in the current situation.
Also at the conference, Director of the National Intellectual Property Office Dinh Huu Phi announced and awarded the Certificate of Geographical Indication of Luc Ngan’s lychee in Japan to representatives of the People’s Committee of Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province. .

After nearly 2 years, with the close direction of the leadership of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the efforts of the leadership and functional units of NOIP, and the coordination of Bac Giang provincial agencies, on March 12 /.2021 Lychee Luc Ngan has been awarded a Certificate of Registration of Geographical Indications by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) with registration number 107.
This is the first of three geographic indications supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology within the framework of the Intellectual Property Development Program. Currently, the geographic indications for 02 dragon fruit of Binh Thuan and coffee of Buon Ma Thuot are in the process of completing the documents at the request of MAFF.
Currently lychees from Bac Giang province are protected by trademarks in 8 countries including: China, USA, Japan, Australia, Korea, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia.
In particular, in March 2021, Luc Ngan litchi, Bac Giang became Vietnam’s first agricultural product to be officially protected as GI in Japan, paving the way for the promotion of lychee GI protection in other countries; At the same time, it is also the “passport” of Luc Ngan and Bac Giang lychees for export to other large and potential markets.
In order to obtain the best quality lychees to meet the requirements of all domestic and international markets, over the years, the Ministry of Science and Technology has always accompanied and coordinated with Bac Giang province to continuously carry out scientific research, research and application in sync. and technological solutions for production such as cultivation techniques and treatments; harvesting, pre-processing, applying traceability to products; inspection and internal supervision and external supervision; production chain along the value chain; expanding the lychee planting area according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards… towards 100% lychee according to VietGAP standards.
Currently, longan of Bac Giang province is protected by trademarks in 8 countries including: China, USA, Japan, Australia, Korea, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia (Vu Vu Photo).
At the same time, closely monitor the litchi orchards participating in the organic lychee model; install surveillance cameras, electronic maintenance logs; Organic fabrics have many outstanding advantages.
According to reports, the entire Luc Ngan district currently has more than 15,000 hectares of lychees, concentrated in communes such as Hong Giang, Tan Son, Quy Son and Giap Son. In which, many production areas follow GlobalGAP, VietGAP and organic process, helping products to have beautiful code and high quality, meet the needs of domestic consumption and export. At present, the flowering rate is more than 90%, the growth and development is good, people are focusing on the steps of caring for longan to bear fruit.
In the 2021 production season, the lychee area of Bac Giang province is estimated to reach around 28,000 hectares. Where the initial litchi area was nearly 7,000 ha, the main season lychee was over 21,000 ha; production is estimated at around 160,000 tonnes. The area of lychees produced according to provincial VietGAP standards is estimated at over 15,000 hectares; Lychees are produced according to GlobalGAP standards on 338 hectares of land.
In the 2020 lychee harvest, Bac Giang province officially exported to Japan a total yield of around 200 tonnes of lychees.
This year, for the Japanese market, Bac Giang continues to direct the production of the 19 planting area codes that have been awarded in 2020; while reviewing and expanding a number of areas, bringing the total area of lychee to serve the Japanese market to around 130 hectares. Currently, the Department of Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) is evaluating and evaluating to issue area codes in the near future.
