The biggest leak in the history of the game industry
On September 18, member “teapotuberhacker” on GTA Forums shared a 3 GB dataset, including 90 videos taken from Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), an open world game being developed by Rockstar Games , following the success of GTA V released in 2013.
The videos show the environment and controls of GTA VI. Characters in the leaked videos include female characters, coinciding with Bloomberg rumors that GTA VI will have a female lead, based on the notorious bandit duo Bonnie and Clyde.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier confirmed the leaked videos were genuine. After appearing on GTA Forums, the videos quickly went viral on YouTube, Twitter, Reddit and many gaming forums.

“This is one of the biggest leaks in gaming history, and a nightmare for Rockstar Games,” Schreier said.
In a YouTube video, a female character named Lucia is controlled to rob a restaurant with accomplice Jason, taking the victim hostage. The graphic details, coordinate code, object distance on the frame show that the game has not been completed.
Another video shows the character on the “Vice City Metro” train. Many rumors predict GTA VI will be set in Miami, similar to the version of GTA Vice City released in 2002. Another video shows the conversation between characters by the pool, like a scene from Red Dead Redemption 2 with Voice quality is very good.
According to The Verge, the videos were shot from computers using RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3080 graphics cards, so the leaked version was developed in the last 2 years.
Several videos show the new interactions between the NPCs (non-playable characters), skins, effects, and Rockstar’s debugging tools for the PlayStation version of GTA VI. In-game dialogue and messages are all typical of Rockstar games, PC Gamer said.
After the videos went viral on the Internet, Take-Two, the owner of Rockstar Games is said to have requested that some videos be removed due to copyright infringement.

The “teapotuberhacker” member who claimed to be behind the attack on Uber’s database, said he would leak more source code and content of GTA V and GTA VI if Rockstar did not negotiate.
Rumors say GTA VI has been in development since 2014 under the codename “Project Americas”. However, the game will not be completed until 2025.
This isn’t the first time Rockstar games have been leaked. In 2018, Trusted Reviews published detailed information about Red Dead Redemption 2 ahead of the game’s release. The article caused the magazine to publicly apologize and support 1 million USD to be donated.
