Support to handle 1,234 incidents of network attacks on the system in Vietnam in January

The number of cyberattacks causing problems on information systems in Vietnam has been recorded, warned and directed by the National Cyber ​​Security Monitoring Center (NCSC) under the Information Security Administration, MIC. Leading agencies and units to handle in January 2023 was 1,234 cases.

The previous statistics of NCSC showed that the number of incidents of cyber attacks on information systems in Vietnam in the same month of last year (January 2022) was 1,383 and in the preceding month (January 2022). December 2022) is 982.

According to the analysis of Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Technical Director of Vietnam National Cyber ​​Security Technology Company – NCS, the fact that in January this year continued to have the number of cyberattacks on systems in Vietnam caused the trying to increase higher than the previous month because this is the time of the Lunar New Year. This is a time when cybercriminals often increase their cyber attacks, spreading malicious code to appropriate information and properties of individuals and organizations.

The fact that the situation of cyberinformation security during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Lunar New Year of the Rabbit of 2023 lasts 7 days from January 20 to the end of January 26, also proves the above statement and analysis; In just about a week, the Information Security Department has recorded and warned about 508 cyber attacks, an increase of 23% compared to a week before the Tet holiday and an increase of 13% over the same period last year.

Previously, with 2022, according to the Department of Information Security, cyber attacks on information systems in Vietnam are still a notable point over the years. During the whole year, the Department of Information Security recorded, warned and guided to handle 11,213 cyber attacks that caused problems to information systems in Vietnam, including 3,930 phishing attacks. 1,524 attacks to change the interface (Deface) and 5,759 attacks to install malicious code (Malware).

Thus, compared to the same period in 2021, the number of cyber attacks on information systems in Vietnam in 2022 has increased by 44.2%. compared to the same period in 2021. The representative of the Information Security Department also noted the status quo despite receiving warnings about cyber attacks or warnings about cyber attacks. weakness, vulnerability from the authorities, but there are still many agencies, organizations and businesses that have not paid attention to handling or updating the patch to reduce risks.

In order to ensure network information security in the coming time, the Ministry of Information and Communications said that it will continue to strengthen supervision and proactively scan Vietnam’s cyberspace; evaluate, make statistics and continue to promote propaganda and warnings on the mass media for users to know and avoid. At the same time, continue to have widely warning documents, urging the review of weaknesses, vulnerabilities, signs of network attacks.
