Presenting the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize in Science and Technology

The Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize in Science and Technology are the two most noble awards recognized, honored and awarded by the State to scientists, authors, and co-authors of exceptionally excellent works and high value in science and technology.

These are works that have great and lasting effects in people’s lives, making important and practical contributions to the cause of socio-economic development, national defense and security, and the development of science and technology of the land. water.

At the Awards Ceremony, there were a total of 29 works research is honored. In which, 12 works were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and 17 works and clusters of works were awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology.

Authors and co-authors whose works are awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize, the State Prize in Science and Technology will receive the Certificate of Award from the President and bonuses according to the Government’s regulations.

According to Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, the Ho Chi Minh Prize was awarded to 130 authors and co-authors of 12 particularly excellent works and clusters. With the State Prize in Science and Technology, this award is given to 151 authors and co-authors of 17 excellent works and clusters of works in science and technology.

The works and clusters of works that were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize have clarified and proposed the principles of innovation in Vietnam during the time when our Party initiated the comprehensive renovation of the country.

A number of research works on language have been evaluated by domestic and foreign linguistics and literary circles as a landmark in the study of Vietnamese language and culture. In addition, researches on technology, design, construction and installation of superpower and super-heavy marine oil and gas projects have also affirmed sovereignty and have particularly important significance in terms of national defense and security. .

The works awarded the State Prize have contributed to the formation of new knowledge, important contributions in terms of materials, applied in training, increased efficiency, capacity, energy saving, saving. fuel, replacing imported goods, reducing investment costs, reducing cost burden…, contributing to a breakthrough in productivity and socio-economic efficiency, saving and making a significant contribution to development Socioeconomic.

Sharing at the award ceremony, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Party and State always identify the development and application of science and technology as the top national policy for socio-economic development and national defense. . This is the content that needs to be prioritized to focus on investing in both resources, mechanisms, policies and people in the activities of branches at all levels.

According to State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, it is necessary to be frank that the country’s scientific, technological and innovation capacity is still limited, while the legal corridor, mechanisms and policies are still lacking in synchronization and have not been created. driving force for the development and application of science and technology.

“We do not have good policies, mechanisms and good remuneration, commensurate with the creativity and dedication of scientists. The level of spending on science and technology is still low compared to the world average. Without investment in science, technology and innovation, we will be stuck in the very pit of low productivity, low competitive value and middle income trap. Therefore, the state and the private sector need to properly realize the importance and invest in science and technology in a proportionate way,” the President said.

According to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnam needs a strategic transformation to promote scientific and technological research in a number of strong industries and fields. It is necessary to do better the coordination between the State and society, between internal and external forces in science and technology development.
