NASA has successfully launched a lunar spacecraft

According to SpaceAt 13:47 (Vietnam time) on November 16, NASA successfully launched the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket from the Kennedy Space Center, in Florida, USA.

This is NASA’s first step in the Artemis program to bring humans back Moon live and work for a long time, after more than half a century.

The SLS rocket and the Orion spacecraft are two of the core components of NASA’s Artemis 1 program.

Mission Artemis-1 was delayed many times due to unfavorable weather factors, or malfunctions from the launch system.

SLS is the most powerful rocket NASA has ever built, weighing about 2,500 tons and nearly 100 meters high, while the Orion weighs 23 tons and has a diameter of 5 meters.

Artemis-1 is just the first mission for NASA’s Artemis program. In this mission, it is expected that the Orion unmanned spacecraft will make a 42-day flight around the Moon, and then return to Earth.

The Artemis lunar exploration program is divided into three phases. After Artemis I, Artemis II will fly astronauts around the Moon in 2024 and Artemis III will bring astronauts to the lunar surface in 2025.
