Specifically, for each GrabBike ride, the platform will add 5,000 VND/trip, applicable in 23 localities.

Particularly for 4-wheel vehicle service, customers have to pay an additional 15,000 VND for each trip, made in 17 provinces.

With GrabMart (marketing), GrabFood (food delivery), GrabExpress (delivery), each order during Tet will increase by 5,000 VND.

The additional fee will be applied from January 20, 2023 to January 26, 2023 for trips/orders arising in the frame from 6am to 10pm.

Normally, ride-hailing platforms will lose drivers during Tet because they take time off from work to return to their hometown. The increase in fares is one of the ways to encourage drivers to turn on the app during peak periods.

According to a survey by Q&Me published in June 2021, based on the number of customers using the two-wheeler service in Vietnam, Grab accounts for about 60% of the market share, Gojek accounts for 19%, Be accounts for 18%. .

According to data from the Department of Transport (Ministry of Transport), after 7 years of development from 2015 to 2021, Vietnam’s ride-hailing market has about 67,000 taxis and 90,000 contract cars that have been registered for business and issued with badges.

With a growth rate of 30-35% per year, the ride-hailing technology market has a growth rate just behind retail e-commerce. In 2021, this market size will reach about 2.4 billion USD in revenue.
