Expected more than 5,000 billion VND GPMP Vinh International Airport
Currently, Vinh International Airport is operating 9 routes, 6 airlines, with an average frequency of 26 – 28 flights/day (corresponding to 52 – 56 takeoffs and landings/day). The number of passengers through the port in 2022 will reach 2.6 million passengers, already overloaded compared to the current capacity.
Therefore, the upgrade and renovation is a requirement, especially the construction of a second take-off and landing runway with a length of 3,000m, ensuring that it can receive large-body aircraft of code E such as: A350, B777, B787, as well as building a new civil aviation zone.
According to the Draft Master Plan for the development of the national airport and airport system in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, the Ministry of Transport has submitted to the Prime Minister, the capacity of the international airport. Vinh expects about 8 million passengers/year by 2030; vision to 2050 about 14 million passengers/year.
It is expected that by 2030, the capacity of Vinh International Airport will be 8 million passengers/year.
The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam has completed the final report on planning adjustment and has reported to the Ministry of Transport to choose the option of building a civil aviation zone between the two runways of the international airport. economic Vinh.
Accordingly, the expected land area to be cleared for construction of the civil aviation zone between the two runways is about 115 ha (including 68.1 ha in Nghi An commune, 43.6 ha in Nghi Truong commune; Nghi Trung commune 3 ha). The estimated cost of site clearance is about VND 5,084 billion. The number of affected households is about 850 households; does not affect the land area of the army.
This option will also reduce the cost of site clearance, about 2,000 billion VND lower than the other option; does not affect the land, property, defense works under management and use; in the long run there is room for further development; promote operational efficiency when the take-off and landing runway No. 2 is completed.
At the same time, the wishes of households in the area between the two runways, wishing to relocate and resettle soon, will be highly agreed upon when clearing the site. However, with this option, the province needs to arrange capital to invest in a traffic route connecting to the new airport, from National Highway 1 and National Highway 46, about VND 850 billion.
The estimated land area that needs to be cleared for construction of the civil aviation zone between the two runways is about 115 hectares.
At the meeting on the afternoon of February 8, on the basis of the presentation and analysis of the leaders of the Department of Transport, the Standing Board of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee discussed and agreed on the choice of investment, management and exploitation model. on the basis of maintaining the status quo of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam in management of the existing airport.
At the same time, calling for investment resources in the new civil aviation area, including: passenger terminal, cargo terminal, hangar (aircraft maintenance area) and airport works including take-off and landing runway No. taxiways, aprons… in the form of PPP (public-private partnership) to form more investors to manage and operate a new civil aviation zone.
