Accent firmly at the top, Vios suddenly fell deep

Out of a total of 14,036 passenger cars sold in January 2023, sedans sold were 4,135 units, down 62.3% from the previous month and down 64% over the same period in 2022.

Notably, segment sedan cheap price (size BC) although the first place continues to be held by Hyundai Accent, there has been a significant disturbance in the remaining positions. But compared to the business results of January 2022, the positions in the Top 5 this time are quite similar.

Below is the ranking of the 5 best-selling BC sedans in January 2023.

1. Hyundai Accent: 1,024 cars

Entering the first month of 2023, sample Hyundai Accent sold only 1,024 cars, a sharp decrease of 65% compared to December 2022 (2,929 cars). However, this result is still enough to help Hyundai’s B-sized sedan lead the market in the month.

It can be seen that January 2023 fell into a long holiday, but the competitors all declined, but with sales maintaining over 1,000 vehicles per month, proving that Hyundai Accent’s attraction is still very large. This model is currently selling at a quite reasonable price from 426-542 million VND, the actual number is even lower due to many incentives from dealers.

2. Honda City: 759 cars

Honda City In January 2023, the company continued to move up the rank from 3rd to 2nd position when it sold 759 vehicles, despite the worse sales results of 427 vehicles, equivalent to a decrease of 36% compared to the previous month (1,186 vehicles). ).

Honda City is still a car that is considered to be powerful and has many advantages compared to rivals. This B-class sedan is being introduced in 4 versions: G, L and RS with prices ranging from 529 to 599 million.

3. Mazda3: 384 cars

After leaving the Top 5 last month, Mazda3 has returned spectacularly and rose to 3rd place with 384 cars sold in January 2023. The 20% decrease compared to December 2022 has helped this model to advance strongly this month.

Currently, Mazda3 is being sold to the market with only 1.5L engine variant with 3 versions including Deluxe, Luxury and Premium, with prices ranging from 699 to 789 million.

4. Toyota Vios: 275 cars

Ranked in 4th place is the most surprising result for the best-selling car model in the market last year. January 2023, Toyota Vios sold 275 cars, only 1/10 of the number of cars sold last month (2,764 cars).

However, Toyota Vios always has a slow pace in the first month of the new year. In the same period last year, this model also ranked in 3rd place.

The unusually low sales of cars could be a sign that the company is selling off inventory to prepare for the launch of the new generation model that is expected to be released in the next few months.

5. Mitsubishi Attrage: 239 vehicles

Mitsubishi Attrage also had the 2nd consecutive month in the Top 5 best-selling sedans of the month with sales of 239 vehicles. This is possible thanks to the strong incentive policy of the Japanese automaker and the price that is close to A-size models.

Mitsubishi Attrage is currently being imported from Thailand. Vehicles are distributed 3 versions using 1.2L engine with optional manual and CVT automatic transmission. The car is appreciated for its ability to save fuel, but the interior and exterior design is still not attractive enough for buyers. The selling price of this model ranges from 380-490 million VND.

In addition, sales in January 2023 of some other popular sedan models are as follows:

– Mazda2: 230 cars

– KIA K3: 225 cars

– Toyota Corolla Altis: 127 cars

– KIA Soluto: 81 cars
