Chip A17 Bionic

According to Nikkei Asia, The upcoming iPhone Pro models will be equipped with the A17 Bionic chip based on TSMC’s second generation 3nm process. This new chip will improve performance and power consumption compared to the A16 Bionic manufactured on the 4nm process.

In the iPhone series launched last year, only the iPhone Pro is equipped with Apple’s latest chip.

Titanium frame

Like the Apple Watch Ultra, the frames of the iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to use titanium instead of stainless steel. This information was revealed by analyst Jeff Pu and source ShrimpApplePro.

USB-C port

According to EU regulations, from the end of 2024, consumer electronic devices in the EU market will have to use USB-C standard charging ports. Apple will likely need to change this design, at least with the European-specific iPhone.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 15 Pro models will have a USB-C port that supports at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. This will help the new iPhones transfer data much faster.

USB-C port on models iPhone 15 standard will still be limited to USB 2.0 speeds.

RAM 8GB

According to TrendForceiPhone 15 Pro models will have 8GB of RAM up from 6GB of the current generation.

Monolithic power and volume buttons

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also claims that the Pro models will have the power and volume buttons replaced with a monolithic button to make the device more waterproof.

Apple will add two Taptic Engines motors on the sides of the iPhone 15 Pro, helping users feel the vibration feedback each press, similar to TouchID on the iPhone SE.

Periscope camera

Mr. Kuo is also the one who revealed that the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra) will be equipped with a periscope lens, with better optical zoom capabilities.

This allows the iPhone 15 Ultra to have an optical zoom of up to 5x or 10x compared to 3x on the current iPhone 14 Pro Max.
